FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SEATTLE, WA – April 28, 2025 — Equal Time (www.equaltime.io), the AI-powered platform helping companies build more inclusive, equitable meetings, has announced the launch of a groundbreaking new feature: the Mansplaining Detector. This first-of-its-kind capability uses advanced language models to identify instances of “mansplaining”—when someone of any gender unnecessarily re-explains or condescendingly clarifies a point, often directed at women or marginalized participants.
Equal Time works with a simple setup—just sync your Google or Outlook calendar, then Equal Time’s bot automatically joins your virtual meetings, listens silently, and delivers a detailed post-call summary to participants. The summary includes:
- Action items and meeting notes
- Speaking time by participant
- Gender-based speaking time analysis
- Sentiment analysis
- Suggestions on how to improve the meeting
- And now: incidents of mansplaining, flagged with a short explanation and guidance for improvement
The goal isn’t to shame—it’s to raise awareness and promote better collaboration. “We all want to build teams where every voice is heard and respected,” said Rachel Dowling, Founder and CEO of Equal Time. “This tool adds a layer of insight that can gently surface subtle patterns, encourage reflection, and support change without confrontation.”
The Mansplaining Detector works by analyzing conversational context, speaker dynamics, and repetition patterns. When a potential mansplaining moment is detected, it’s included in the summary with a timestamp, the speakers involved, and a note offering inclusive communication tips—such as giving space for others to re-assert their ideas or redirecting credit to the original contributor.
This feature builds on Equal Time’s broader mission: to bring visibility to the invisible dynamics in meetings that affect psychological safety, equity, and engagement.
The Mansplaining Detector is now live for all Equal Time users.
